Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield Partners with Marshfield Flag Football Program

MARSHFIELD, MA … The Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield, a youth development organization providing programs and services to children and families throughout the greater South Shore community, has partnered with Marshfield Flag Football Program and will soon manage a portion of the program for the Fall 2019 season.

The Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield will be managing Marshfield Flag Football’s Kindergarten to Grade 3 divisions, which is comprised of approximately 300 children and makes up 50 percent of the program. Marshfield Flag Football will continue to run and manage the 4th to 8th grade divisions.  Players will benefit from the partnership as they will gain membership to the Boys & Girls Club along with opportunities to participate in other sports and activities offered by the Club.

“The Marshfield Flag Football Program directly aligns with our health and fitness area of youth development and helps us to fulfill our mission,” said Jim Bunnell, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield. “It’s a tremendous program which already serves more than 500 local youth. By bringing it into the Boys & Girls Club, we’ll be able to expand the program beyond Marshfield to include boys and girls from across the South Shore.”

The league was founded by Marshfield residents Dante DiMassa and Mark Stiles, who established the program in 2012. They had wanted to create a fun experience for children and families and the program has been very successful and grown each year. DiMassa is Marshfield Flag Football’s treasurer/EVP and Steve Medeiros is the commissioner. Parents and coaches (all volunteers) will still run the program.

Last year, the Marshfield Flag Football Program served more than 500 Marshfield families with children ranging from six to 15 years old. The program is co-ed and open to all Marshfield residents.

“The Boys & Girls Club is a wonderful organization and we’re excited about the partnership. We wanted to add more opportunities for kids in town and the Boys & Girls Club is a great way to do so,” said DiMassa.

Lacey Pustizzi, the Boys & Girls Club’s Athletics Coordinator and a former professional field hockey player, will oversee Marshfield Flag Football’s Kindergarten-Grade 3 divisions. DiMassa and Medeiros will continue to oversee Grade 4-8 divisions.
